School becomes role model in solar energy

The Humboldt School, in Pavas, will become a great center of exhibition with its modern technology of solar energy.

The boards and tanks that form part of the installation can already be appreciated in this school, and the water heated by the rays of the sun is already used in the kitchen and in the showers.

After entering the installations of the Humboldt, the first thing that calls the attention are the solar boards placed on top of the ceilings of some classrooms.

There are two different technologies that coexist, the amorphous one and the polycrystalline, that convert the energy of the sun into electricity. Several computers and part of the lighting in the offices are currently taking advantage of this.

Although seeming like the same at first sight, the amorphous are cheaper boards and less efficient than the polycrystalline. These last are more expensive, but more efficient in the collecting of rays from the sun.

Also, two public lighting lamps can be seen, which charge its batteries in the light of day and can take advantage of at night by means of light electric diodes (LEDs), the most efficient technology in lighting.

The other two solar energy examples are two water warming systems. The tanksystem of is quite large and can store almost 1,300 liters of hot water. Before coming out of the showers, the hot water combines with cold to produce a temperature of 25° Celsius, an exquisite temperature.

All the equipment is of German origin, a country which is globally recognized by its advances in matters of clean energy.
